423: Bill Seitz

Organizational Cover-Up, Sexual Harassment

Bill Seitz was accused of sexual harassment after a going-away party for a Republican staffer. In his comments, he disparaged women in the legislature and made light of sexual harassment. He mocked women and used misogynist crude epithets to describe them. He apologized. The House leadership hired a law firm to investigate. The same law firm where Seitz worked for 36 years. The same law firm that donated to his campaign. They cleared him.

411: Jason Brothers

Child Molestation, Child Rape

Jason Brothers was a traveling Evangelist preacher who raped a child in 2012 but did not face justice until 2019 when he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and avoided all jail time. His lawyer, David Ralston (412) used his position as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives to delay the trial so long the prosecutor thought it unlikely witnesses would have clear memories.

He repeatedly raped a 14-year-old girl and got probation.

384: Tom Ganley

Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment

Tom Ganley was a Republican congressional candidate in Ohio. He lost his election in 2010. He was accused by two different women of sexually harassing them. One woman, Dianne Hill, accused him of grabbing her buttocks and telling her he wanted her to wear some lingerie and allow him to smack her buttocks. Another woman…

324: Wesley Goodman

Sexual Assault

However, Wesley Goodman is a sexual predator and many people knew it and covered it up before he was even elected to office.

The Council on National Policy, a 501(c)3, was hosting a fundraiser for Wes Goodman, often described as a rising star. That seems illegal, but it not the focus here. During that event Goodman invited an 18-year-old who came with his parents up to his room after attending another party with Goodman and a group of young men, some of whom were bullied into coming by Goodman. At the end of the night, Goodman invited the young man to his room. He woke up in the middle of the night when Goodman unzipped his pants and began fondling him without his consent. Scared, he ran to his parents and told them what happened.

143: Dana Rinehart

Child Molestation

Dana Rinehart was the Republican mayor of Columbus, OH. Back in 1978, when he was the county treasurer, it was alleged that he molested his 13-year-old babysitter. He was not indicted and the prosecutor’s decision to let him testify to the grand jury on his own behalf. Even more irregular, a psychiatrist who had never…

136: Cliff Hite

Sexual Harassment

Cliff Hite was an Ohio state senator. He decided he wanted to have sex with a state employee and despite her repeated refusals he kept asking and asking, one time for over an hour, explaining that “I’m a grown man. I have needs” and talking about his sex life with his wife. He propositioned her nine times. He told her she would change her mind. She filed a complaint of sexual harassment that ultimately led to his resignation.

130: Wes Goodman

Sexual Misconduct

Wes Goodman was an Ohio state representative. Fittingly, considering his resignation, he once worked for Rep. Jim Jordan who infamously looked the other way while his students were being molested by a colleague. Goodman is not listed for his hypocrisy in engaging in many consensual affairs with men, but for the non-consensual fondling of a teenager at a GOP event.

112: Stephen Linnen

Indecent Exposure

Ohio was plagued by a serial criminal known as the “Naked Photographer” who exposed himself to women and photographed their reactions. He had struck 39 times before he was finally caught. He turned out to be Stephen Linnen, the staff lawyer for the Ohio House Republican Caucus. He pleaded guilty to 53 misdemeanor counts and…

Child Indecency, Child Molestation, Solicitation of a Minor

Joe Monteleone was a Republican city councilman in Elyria, Ohio, as well as a pizzeria owner when he was charged with improperly touching three teen girls who worked for his pizza shop.
