1006: Phillip Briggs

Nonconsensual Recording, Secret Photos or Recordings

Phillip Briggs was the mayor of Spencerville, Ohio, until he resigned after his arrest for secretly recording two girls while they were undressing. He is alleged to have done this five times during May and June, 2021. The girls went to police, reporting that their mother’s boyfriend had been secretly recording them while they undressed. He was arrested in January, 2023 for pandering sexually-oriented material. Later he was indicted by a grand jury and charged with five felony counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. He resigned in February.

He’s always been a creep, marrying his cousin, cheating on his wife, sexually harassing women. There’s an infamous scene in the second Borat movie. In January 2023, he was sued by a longtime employee who accused his of abuse of power, sexual assault and sexual harassment. According to her, he demanded sexual favors as part of her job. Of course, these allegations were overshadowed by her information about selling pardons.

963: Richard J. Corkery

Child Sexual Abuse Material

Richard J. Corkery was the Republican mayor of Coaldale, Pennsylvania. In April 2011, the police received an anonymous letter telling them they should investigate Corkery who, the letter stated, had been fired for looking at child sexual abuse material on his work computer. They found child sexual abuse material and tied it to him.

He was convicted and sentenced to 9 to 36 months and 3 years probation. He served 36 months but then violated his probation by being around children

869: Charlie Pierce

Charlie Pierce is the former mayor of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula Borough and a Republican candidate for governor in the general election. His former Executive Assistant has sued him and the KPB, claiming she was subject to constant unwanted touching, sexual remarks, and advances. According to the suit, the KPB provided no way for her to report the harassment without reprisal.

Melvin Slack was a Republican candidate for mayor of Shreveport. He dropped out of the race for a couple of days after a woman sought a restraining order, but he got back in because he thought quitting dishonored the memory of his son. He lost.

Matthew McIlravy was elected Mayor of Pilot Point, TX, in May 2022. Prior to that he served on the City Council. He was endorsed by the Denton County Republicans. A month later he was arrested for soliciting a minor, a child under the age of 14. Investigators believed that he may have communicated with more children.
