Melvin Slack was a Republican candidate for mayor of Shreveport. He dropped out of the race for a couple of days after a woman sought a restraining order, but he got back in because he thought quitting dishonored the memory of his son. He lost.
The woman, someone who worked on his campaign, alleged he slapped her and put her in a chokehold. She also provided phone and text message records showing he tried contacting her fifty times in just one day even though she asked him to stop.
