Matthew McIlravy was elected Mayor of Pilot Point, TX, in May 2022. Prior to that he served on the City Council. He was endorsed by the Denton County Republicans. A month later he was arrested for soliciting a minor, a child under the age of 14. Investigators believed that he may have communicated with more children.
Incidentally, while a mayor pro tem was appointed to serve after he resigned. They had a November election for a new mayor and it tied 689 to 689, so they had a runoff in December.
