817: Perry Hooper

Perry Hooper was an Alabama state representative. He was also the 2016 Donald Trump Alabama campaign co-chair. He was arrested for felony sex abuse. Charges were dropped because the victim refused to testify.

Nonetheless, Hooper acknowledged his actions when he apologized. “I would like to express my sincerest apologies to Elizabeth Daly. On August 16, 2022, Miss Daly was assisting my friend and me, as a hostess where we were dining. I was wrong and I take full responsibility for my actions. Miss Daly is an exemplary person and my behavior was unacceptable. I hope she will accept this apology for my regrettable conduct.”

After admitting his behavior and apologizing, he decided to sue Montgomery and the Montgomery Police Department. He claims it was a political hit job because he supports Trump.

When apologizing he called Daly and exemplary person, but when he decided to sue, he said she has a troubled past and it was just a kiss on the cheek. The thing is, there is video. A grand jury saw the video when they indicted him. The complaint says Hooper came up behind Daly, grabbed her breasts, began thrusting his pelvis into her and started to kiss her neck.

Hooper was given a gift when his victim was willing to accept an apology instead of pursuing a criminal case. He took the gift and reneged on his promises and then claimed he was the victim. He was not exonerated, he evaded justice by making a promise he never meant to keep. When they are not held accountable, they just demand more.
