1400: David G. McConkie

David G. McCorkie

David G. McConkie was a deputy district attorney and the president of the Colorado Springs East Stake of the Mormon Church. He left the D.A.’s office for private practice. In 2023, he was arrested for sexual assault of a child. He was charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a child for nine years, from 2004 to 2013, beginning when the child was an infant. He will serve no jail time thanks to a plea agreement that allowed him to plead guilty to one count of attempting to sexual assault a child. He was sentenced in July, 2025.

Although the agreement allowed up to 90 day in jail and the prosecutor argued for jail time, saying his admission of guilty made his abuse sound accidental. The victim was indifferent. The judge decided against jail time and McKonkie was sentenced to five years supervised probation and prohibited from being around anyone under 18 except his own children. He also lost his law license. He is required to register with the sex offender registry.

Although he was to register within five days, searches of the sex offender registry in Utah where he is now living, and the Colorado and national registries show no David McConkie listed, though there is likely a reasonable explanation for that.
