1401: John Denzel

John Denzel

John Denzel was the “safe environment manager” for St. Brigid of Kildare, a Catholic school in Dublin, Ohio. In that role, he did background checks on potential employees and volunteers. He also did sexual abuse awareness training for staff, parents, and volunteers. The Internet Archive has a description of the program that used to be on the school’s site. He had worked at the school for many years in different roles, including providing supervision for “latchkey” kids. He was fired in 2024 after his arrest for fifteen charges relating to child sexual abuse material.

Specifically, Denzel was charged with four charges of pandering sexually oriented matters involving a minor and eleven charges of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance. He was convicted on all fifteen counts after pleading guilty and was sentenced to five years probation, up to 45 days in jail or until he is admitted to a treatment program at state correctional facility that could last no more than 180 days, as well as the usual prohibition of using a computer and being around children. The sentencing document is below.

These articles are illuminating, especially his response to The Columbus Dispatch, “”The accusations happened four years ago. Since then, “I’ve lived my best life, and you improve as you grow.”

  1. What a pathetic sentence. Plus, WHEN are newspapers Abe reporters going to stop describing Child Sexual Abuse Material as “porn”. It is truly disgusting.
