Kelly Jay Carter was a fire battalion chief for the Salt Lake City Fire Department until his recent retirement. He worked for the fire department from 2000 to 2025.
He was arrested in February 2026 for purchasing and possessing child sexual abuse material. He was charged with ten felony counts sexual exploitation of a minor.
David Nephi Johnson is the Chairman of the Wasatch County Republican Party in Idaho. He has been arrested for felony child abuse for waterboarding his daughter.
Alisha Marie George was a middle-school teacher at a STEM-focused charter school in northern Utah. She also coached volleyball. She was charged with 22 criminal charges involving the grooming and sexual abuse of a former student who has since called her a monster. Other students have come forward so there may be additional charges.
John Emanuel Banuelos is an insurrectionist. He brought a gun to the insurrection and fired it twice inside the Capitol. He was still pardoned in the mass pardon of January 6 participants, even the violent ones. He was arrested for the stabbing and killing of a man in 2021, though the DA decided he acted in self-defense and did not charge him. However, during interrogation for that offense, he bragged to detectives about being at the Insurrection, even pointing himself out on video. When indicted for that he was making light, telling the judge Trump would win the election and pardon him. Well, that happened. However, his DNA was collected and it matched a 2018 rape case, leading to his most recent indictment for eight counts of sexual assault and one count of kidnapping. These crimes happened in Utah, though he has since moved to Illinois.
Joseph Brent Walker is a former journalist at LDS church-owned Deseret News and his column ValueSpeak that examined issues in the news through the lens of conservative values was syndicated to at least thirty papers as well as online publications. He previously worked as a public affairs employee for the LDS church and was a Mormon bishop. At the time of his arrest, he was working as a communications director for the Utah Dept. of Transportation. He has been charged with soliciting a minor and sending explicit material to a minor.
J. Stuart Adams is the Republican President of the Utah State Senate. He told a colleague, Sen. Kirk Cullimore, about his granddaughter’s legal troubles (charged with child rape and child sodomy) and asked him to look into changing the Romeo-Juliet Law.
Jon Stanard was a Utah State Representative until he resigned in 2018. At first it was unclear why this fervent family-values politician resigned, until news came out that he was under investigation for using taxpayer funds to pay for the hotel rooms when he met with a sex worker. They also investigated his use of a state-provided cellphone for making arrangements.
The issue: Taxpayers paid for it
William Kenneth Kendall has been Third District Judge in Utah since his appointment in 2014. In April, 2025, he was indicted for providing an illegal substance (THC) and for forcible sexual assault.
Ned B. Hansen was the fire chief in Tremonton, Utah and at Jackson Hole before that. In January 2025, he was arrested after allegedly sharing child sexual abuse material. Despite the advice of police and the district attorney, he was released by the judge, who turned out to be his alleged partner in preying on children, #1408 Kevin Christensen. Incredibly, the Judge Christensen did not disclose his sexual relationship with Hansen. Less surprisingly, he also did not disclose their alleged mutual interest in child sexual abuse material. Hansen was charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. He is now being held without bail in Weber County Jail.
