Steve Bannon was the co-founder of Breitbart News, the media engine that drove the alt-right into power in the Republican party. They’ve been fact-checked eight times by PolitiFact and only one story was mostly true. He was the CEO of Trump’s presidential campaign. He was later appointed as chief strategist and senior counselor in the…
Robert Goforth was a Kentucky state representative and a gubernatorial candidate. He was arrested in 2020 for strangulation and domestic violence charges. His wife told police he strangled her with a cord until she feared for her life and was about to pass out. In a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to the domestic violence charge and the strangulation was dropped. He was sentenced to 59 days which he gets to serve concurrently with a federal sentence for fraud and money laundering. I think the voters in his district deserve to be called out as well. 71% of them re-elected this abuser even though his indictment for domestic violence and strangulation was common knowledge.
Cody Henson was a Republican state representative in North Carolina, representing the Transylvania and Mills River area. His wife left him while she was pregnant with their second child, claiming he was overly controlling, frequently threatened her with violence, threw a full can of beer at her in front of their child, and threatened to kill himself, at other times he threatened to kill her.
Erick Bennett challenged Susan Collins in the GOP primary in Maine, hoping to replace her in the U.S. Senate. He was convicted of domestic violence after attacking his wife in 2003. He also thinks that is a reason to vote for him. He claims his wife set him up and that he has been jailed for refusing to admit to something he didn’t do. This, he claims, is proof of how much integrity he has. His defense was she tripped over her own feet and fell against him. He was convicted, appealed and appealed and lost and lost.
David Sorenson was a Trump Administration speechwriter. Previously he worked for Maine Governor LePage. He was forced to resign when his ex-wife Jessica Corbett came forward with allegations of emotional and physical abuse.
Ryan Nawrocki was the Republican candidate for Baltimore County, Maryland’s Sixth District council race. However, a past police report leaves questions. In the report, his girlfriend, who is now his wife, alleged that he struck her, pushed her down, and choked her. She told the police twice that he assaulted her during arguments. In the first report to the police, she claimed he pushed her down, but she was uninjured. In the second report, she claimed he hit her and split her lip, pushed her to the floor and was choking her. She managed to get him to stop by digging her nails into his arm. The police officer noted the injuries to her upper and lower lip and also noted that Nawrocki had injuries of his own. She now ascribes their altercation to youth and says there was no abuse.
David W. Coderre was the Republican nominee for state Senate District 29 in Connecticut. He was arrested four times for domestic violence though three of those were erased after a violence program. The fourth arrest was dismissed. He blames the arrests on a messy divorce.
Anthony Pappas was the Republican candidate taking on Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. His ex-wife accused him of domestic violence and has a 20-year restraining order after he broke her jaw. He told the Republican chairwoman that his campaign account was frozen by the government because he owed child support leading her to agree with the Democrats that he was “unhinged.”
Steve Von Loor won the Republican primary for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina in a district backed with as many liberals as possible to dilute their voting power. He had no chance of winning so it was unlikely the state Republican central committee did a background check. Because if they did…
Benjamin Sparks was a Republican consultant for several candidates over the years, even Mitt Romney. Scott Walker, and others. He was accused of abusing and enslaving a woman and was charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. He got his girlfriend to sign a contract requiring her to be his sex slave, wear a…
