During his tenure, the fund drew criticism for investing in companies that produced fentanyl or that had ties do authoritarian regimes such as the Saudi royal family and the Chinese military.
Ron Johnson is a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin. Before politics, he was on the Finance Council of the Green Bay Diocese. He worked hard to protect the Diocese from accountability for protecting pedophiles over the years. James Lankford is the U.S. Senator from Oklahoma. He is a loud voice for conservative values. Values such as believing that thirteen-year-old children are old enough to consent to sex.
As an abortion opponent, he had to out-extreme the extremists, so he declared he opposed exemptions for rape and incest. He described rape as “somewhat inconvenient.” His actual words were, “It’s not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term; it’s whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child’s birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society.”
Mitch McConnell is the Republican leader in the U.S. Senate. At the time this happened, he was the Senate Majority Leader. He usually makes an effort to appear above the fray but when his official campaign account shared a photo a group of young men in his #TeamMitch shirts assaulted, groped, and strangled a life-size photo cutout of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggesting she should be assaulted with the phrase “Break me off a piece of that” he did not apologize. Instead his campaign offered a very boys-will-be-boys defense.
Jack Ryan was the Republican candidate for Senate running against Barack Obama in 2004. That campaign was derailed when the media won disclosure of his divorce settlement with ex-wife Jeri Ryan. Joe McCarthy not only promoted the infamous Red Scare that led to purges in the State Department and Hollywood, he also began the Lavender Scare that did the same thing to homosexuals. Now, the anti-gay employment policies did not originate with him and some revisionist historians use that to argue that blaming him for the Lavender Scare is a smear. They are wrong. Styles Bridges was the U. S. Senator from New Hampshire back in the bad old days when homosexuality was a crime. He was an ally of Sen. Joe McCarthy who was behind the infamous Red Scare and Lavender Scare. The Lavender Scare is what Bridges employed in driving Sen. Lester Hunt to suicide.
Sen. Bob Packwood was an Oregon senator who presented himself as a Republican feminist supporting abortion access and being on the correct side of the cultural issues, favoring ENDA and opposing anti-gay ballot measures. Meanwhile he repeatedly sexually harassed and sometimes groped and assaulted women.
Strom Thurmond was a U.S. senator representing South Carolina. He was an opponent of civil rights and gave the longest filibuster in US history in opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
