J.D. Vance is a U. S. Senate and political chameleon. As an author, he associated himself with the very elite he disparaged and dehumanized as a candidate. A favorite on the cocktail/pundit circuit, his book “Hillbilly Elegy” comforted the comfortable by assuring them that the poor deserve to be poor, however he was a vocal Trump critic. Deciding to run for office, he became a complete Trumpist.
As an abortion opponent, he had to out-extreme the extremists, so he declared he opposed exemptions for rape and incest. He described rape as “somewhat inconvenient.” His actual words were, “It’s not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term; it’s whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child’s birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society.”
At a school, he told students that divorce is so bad for children that parents should stay together even if the marriage is violent.
