Bruce Barclay, a Republican who had just been elected to a second term as Cumberland County Commissioner, had several consensual sexual encounters with sex workers. That does not merit inclusion on this list because it was consensual. However, the sex workers did not consent to be secretly recorded. This was discovered in an investigation into a rape accusation that turned out to be false.
Barclay was quite the GOP star, co-chairing George W Bush’s 2004 election campaign and was elected to chair the county commission.
Barclay told the police he had recorded as many as 500 sex acts.
