Jonathan Parker was the Idaho Republican Party chairman. In 2019, he was arrested for hiding in the bushes, in a woman’s wig, looking in the windows at his ex-wife’s apartment building while masturbating. This is after his wife had already filed a criminal complaint about him constantly hiding in the bushes and masturbating. She had a restraining order.
A colleague also had filed a complaint about him entering her home without permission.
In all, he was facing five charges. He proposed probation in a plea deal.
He was sentenced to two weeks in jail and five years probation. While he expressed contrition, he also blamed his wife and the media for his life unraveling. One of his defenses was that he was there to scare another woman, not his wife. He soon violated probation. His most recent problem is being arrested for meth use. He is not allowed out on bail.
So harassing and stalking at least one woman, he is released on his own recognizance and serves just fourteen days. Meth, though, he gets no bail and I presume we will spend far more than fourteen days in jail. Women’s safety is so much less important.
