Alex Barron lost his primary for Republican state senate candidate in Idaho, but is a well-known conservative activist and self-styled “Bard of the American Redoubt.”
Alex Barron was unanimously elected as Secretary for the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) in 2016 and 2018. He was also elected as Vice Chairman of Legislative District 3 in 2018.
The American Redoubt is the idea that conservative Christians move to Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, eastern Oregon, and Washington where there is low population density and create an ideological safe haven. It is not the same as the white nationalist movement moving to the same states in hopes of creating a white utopian ethnostate because it is explicitly anti-racist. It is also explicitly theocratic. Barron, in particular, is known for his question, “What are you willing to kill for?”
He has been accused of fondling a 12-year-old girl and raping a woman.
He also has a past domestic violence charge.
