Rene Pedrosa was a spokesperson for Miami Mayor Francis Suarez until he was charged with battery (groping) a minor and sending that minor a pornographic image. Those were state charges, then the federal government filed additional charges that include producing child pornography, receiving child pornography, and enticing a minor into sexual activity.
He had contacted a sixteen-year-old boy through Instagram, expressing interest in hiring the boy for a web-design job for the mayor’s office. Instead he groped the boy and sent him a lewd photo. He later continued to communicate with the boy enticing him into an exchange of explicit photos. Then the boy’s mom found out and reported Pedrosa.
According to Pacer Monitor, no trial date is set. He pleaded guilty in May 2023 and will be sentenced in August.
