1032: Byron Wiscombe

Byron Wiscombe was a city councilman in Ammon, Idaho. He won reellection in November 2021, but resigned in December. In January, 2022, he was charged with sexually abusing two minors. One girl he is accused of abusing for seven years from when she was 14 and recording her with hidden phones in her bathroom. She alleges more than a hundred sexual assaults. The assaults continued after she became a legal adult.

A second girl alleged he touched her inappropriately touched her twice in April 2022. In November, Wiscombe told a relative that he had been inappropriate with the victim.

Wiscombe is charged with lewd conduct with a minor and sexual battery of a child between 16 and 17 years of age, both punishable with up to life in prison, and video voyeurism, punishable with up to five years in prison. He was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery against both victims, with one of the charges forming a separate case.

He pleaded guilty to lewd conduct with a minor in exchange for the prosecution dropping child sexual battery, video voyeurism, and two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery. The prosecutor asked for 3 to 23 years. He was sentenced for 3 to 33 years.
