David Duffett was the youth director at Bible Baptist Church in Fairbanks, Alaska for over twenty years. He was listed as the youth director, bus ministries director, and teacher of the Teen Church and Teens N Training programs. The website further states Duffett runs a yearly youth camp and is the head of Teen Bible Time.
In February, 2023, he was arrested for felony sexual abuse of a minor by a person in authority. His father is the pastor of the church and is alleged to have protected him for years. The abuse is alleged to have happened fifteen years ago. The victim attended Bible Baptist Church. He began giving her gifts when she was fifteen. He began engaging in sex acts when she turned sixteen. Her family found out and put a stop to it. Duffett’s father is the pastor of the church and is alleged to have protected him.
The victim said that she was shunned by her “church family” when she and her family told the pastor when she was a child. She said that women in the church victim-blame. She opposed a bail relaxation that would permit him to see his nieces and nephews saying she did not trust the proposed supervisor to tell the truth.
He is charged with having engaged in sex acts with a 16 or 17-year-old girl while in a position of authority.
