R. J. May is a South Carolina State Representative. He is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security Special Investigations Unit and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division related to child sexual exploitation materials. Electronic devices and files were seized after a search warrant on his home. He has not been charged.
One of the unknown questions is whether he is being investigated for production or possession of CSAM. Though the probable cause affidavit has not been released, sources said there was more than enough cause. May told his fellow legislators that this was related to a firearms defense. Sources from the investigation said it has nothing to do with firearms.
