In 2014, he won the Republican primary for Idaho House District 18, but he lost the general election. He was also active in the Disobey Idaho protests of stay-at-home orders when COVID first appeared.
According to police reports, Ormes was shopping with his son at Walmart. Three youths were playing with a ball in the bike aisle and the ball nearly hit Ormes’ son. This enraged Ormes, who followed the kids and is on video hitting one of them in the back of the head then pushing him up against the shelves and putting his hands around the kid’s neck and strangling him.
Andrea Speck was a candidate in the May 2022 Republican primary in the heavily Republican, sure to win the general, District 81. She ran in the Republican primary for Huntingdon County Commission in 2023 and lost that primary as well. While a primary candidate in 2023, she was arrested for an assault on her daughter. The next hearing on her case is July 20, 2023.
Briggs allowed a man who was wanted for stalking by police to hide out at his home. When he saw a Sheriff’s vehicle driving by, he called and warned them that the castle doctrine allows him to defend his home. “I may have to shoot you.” he said.
Kevin Rinke is a former auto dealer who changed careers in 2009 and began working for an organization that works to rehabilitate people with traumatic brain injuries. He ran in the Republican primary for Michigan governor. He came in second with 21.5% of the Republican vote. He says he will run again. This is despite the many allegations of sexual harassment from people who worked with him.
Matthew Chappell was a candidate in the Republican primary for Virginia House District 11 and came in third with 18.5% of the votes in the first round. Ranked choice voting dropped him out in the fourth and final round. He got 18.5% of ballots even though his past sexual misconduct as a police officer in Georgia was revealed before the election.
Tony Cutler was the director of the Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Development Association, a teacher, and an unsuccessful candidate for Michigan State House of Representatives. He was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, a boy who was sixteen at the time. He moved to get his case dismissed, but the judge refused. However, she did reduce the charges from 2nd to 4th degree, from felonies to misdemeanors.
Running in the Republican Congressional primary in 2022, his opponents brought up allegations of rape that were made in 2005 by a woman who dropped the charge “out of fear.” According to her report to the police, he said he knew where she lived and he would find her. In an egregious act of police misconduct, the Dekalb County police chief whom Vernon Jones had appointed released her identity to the press with the incident report. She wrote a note saying she would not testify because of the harassment and the release of her name. She never recanted.
Andrew Wilhoite won the Republican primary for the Clinton Township Board in Indiana even though he had been charged with his wife’s murder. She had cancer and had recently finished chemotherapy. She found out he had an affair and filed for divorce. He struck her in the head with a flowerpot and threw her body in a nearby creek.
