Bob Young is a Republican state representative in Ohio. In July, he was indicted on two misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and another misdemeanor charge of assault. He admitted his behavior was inappropriate but denied it was criminal. He was asked to resign by the Speaker, but he refused.
Christopher Dorworth is a GOP lobbyist. He was a state legislature in Florida until he lost in 2012. He rose quickly before his loss. He was embroiled in the Joel Greenburg/Matt Gaetz sex trafficking of underage girls investigation. But nobody noticed.
June brought worse problems when he was arrested for child molestation involving a twelve-year-old girl. The child molestation investigation began a week before the drug arrest. He was charged with one count each of first-degree child molestation, second-degree child molestation, and enticement of a person under the age of 16.
The aide told CBS News that Basabe had been drinking, there was some misunderstanding that “lead him to slap me in the face in front of other people in the room. He then told me to stand in the corner. I was so embarrassed that I did as he asked.” This happened in January, but Frevola did not talk about it until he was contacted because he signed an NDA when he started working for Basabe.
Scotty Campbell was a Tennessee state Representative who voted to expel the Tennessee Three for lack of decorum. He gave a speech criticizing the Three and two weeks later, he was the one who was out, resigning after being found guilty of sexual harassment.
Mike Moon is a Missouri Republican state senator who supports and defends child marriage. In 2018, he opposed the bill that raised the marriage age from 15 to 16. In April, 2023, he carried a bill attacking trans children’s rights. He was challenged for his hypocrisy on parental rights since on the one hand, he supports allowing parents to permit a 12-year-old to marry and yet opposed a parent permitting gender-affirming medical care.
Bryan Slaton used to be a Baptist pastor. He also ran for the Republican nomination for the Texas House of Representatives. Austin Haynes was West Virginia state delegate from 2020 to 2022. He was defeated by a Democrat in 2022. A woman who worked with him to get a bill passed filed suit in 2023 alleging sexual harassment though her intent to sue was announced by her lawyer in 2022. In 2020, Haynes sent her messages in Facebook promising to introduce the bill if elected. He didn’t. What he did do, according to her lawsuit, is send sexual and personal messages that she asked him to stop sending, but he didn’t. She alleges he offered a sexual quid pro quo for the legislation.
Jaron Rosien is Mayor of Washington, Iowa. He ran in the Republican primary for his Iowa state house district. He lost the primary. He is accused of sexually assaulting a man who was playing pool with friends in Rosien’s bar. There is video showing Rosien appearing to kiss the man while groping his genitalia.
Brian Stout is a Republican Representative in the Oregon House. He ran for District 31 in 2018 and 2020 but lost to Democrat Brad Witt. After redistricting, the district was more Republican and he won in 2022 when Witt ran in a different district. However, one of his campaign volunteers alleged her sexually assaulted and threatened her and sought a protective order that was granted.
