1133: Bob Young

Bob Young

Bob Young is a Republican state representative in Ohio. In July, he was indicted on two misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and another misdemeanor charge of assault. He admitted his behavior was inappropriate but denied it was criminal. He was asked to resign by the Speaker, but he refused.

According to the police, there are plenty of witnesses to the July 7, 2023 incident. He was arguing with someone and his wife stuck her hand up in front of his face and told him to stop yelling. He grabbed her arm and hit her. She went to her brother’s house with the kids to seek safety. Young showed up and tried to go in the house and he charged, assaulting her brother.

A month later, he was arrested again, this time for violating the protective order. He spent a few days in jail before being released wearing a monitoring device on August 30, 2023. After this second arrest, he was stripped of his committee chair position. He resigned effective October 2, 2023.
