Child Sexual Abuse Material, Stalking/Harassment

In 2021, he was arrested for one count each of aggravated invasion of computer privacy, stalking, and theft by unauthorized taking as well as two counts of harassment. He was using a device issued to him by the school district. This arrest led to a second as they found child sexual exploitation material with children under twelve on his phone.

493: Kelly Toppin

Sexual Harassment

Kelly Toppin was president of the Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education and a Stow City Council candidate. In January 2020, he and the Board were sued for sexual harassment stemming from an incident where he placed hand on the backside of a employee and patted it as she was leaving the table at a restaurant when they were attending a School Boards Association Congress.

473: Chad Lupinacci

Sexual Assault

He was sued in 2018 by his former chief of staff, Brian Finnegan, who accused him of molesting him while the two shared a hotel room in 2017. They usually traveled together from their Long Island office to Albany, sharing a hotel or Lupinacci’s apartment. In December 2017, Finnegan alleges that he was drunk and woke up to Lupinacci fondling his genitals. He quit the next day.

440: Mark Adams

Sexual Harassment

Mark Adams was the fiscal officer for Butler township and treasurer of Montgomery County GOP. HeIn 2019, he resigned after a woman accused him of theft and sexual harassment. According to her, he harassed her when she met with him at the bank where he worked. She gave him money to open an account but it was not credited to her. The bank investigated and fired Adams. However, she did not file a suit and he was back at Butler Township in 2020.

408: Jefferey Short

Child Molestation, Child Rape

Jeffrey Short was an Asher, Oklahoma, city councilman and a former ICE agent. He was indicted for the rape of two minor children. He was arrested the day after the parents reported the assaults to the police. In 2008, the Department of Homeland Security substantiated that a different child, a 14-year-old claimed he preyed on her. Allegedly, he showed sexual exploitation to minors in his ICE office. He was never charged with those incidents.

302: Jon Landry

Coercion, Sexual Misconduct, Solicitation of a Minor, Stalking/Harassment

Jon Landry was a Republican member of the Farmington Town Council. He met a girl online. He used the pseudonym Jason Davis and claimed he was seventeen. He really was a thirty-two-year-old politician with a wife and two children. The girl was twelve. They communicated for four years until she was sixteen when they met in person for the first time and began an affair. Sixteen was the age of consent and the affair was consensual, but there’s more.

272: Merril Robert Barter

Child Molestation

Merril Robert Barter was the Lincoln County GOP Commissioner for twenty-eight years and the Town Clerk of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, for forty-sex years. At age sixty-nine he went to the state Republican convention in Augusta and was arrested for having sex with a minor. At first he pled innocent but then changed his plea to guilty on two counts of unlawful sexual contact and sexual assault on a teenage boy was sentenced to 364 day suspended sentence and a year’s probation to serve consecutively.

271: Jack W. Gardner

Child Indecency, Child Molestation, Child Rape

Jack W. Gardner was convicted of child molesting over thirty years before the Republicans ran him for office. He was the Millersville Council Vice-President and a GOP committeeman for several terms. Republicans are fond of arguing that pedophilia cannot be treated, but I guess it’s okay if you’re a Republican.

In 1970, he pleaded guilty. He was charged with assault with intent to ravish, corrupting a minor, and indecent assault of a minor. She was thirteen, he was twenty-four at the time. He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced from three to 23 months for assault with intent to ravish and a year’s probation for all the rest. He was paroled after just three month.

268: Larry Weinstein

Secret Photos or Recordings, Sexual Misconduct

Larry Weinstein was a Northampton Township Supervisor and the campaign manager for GOP Rep. Scott Petri. He and his girlfriend were charged with drugging a woman so they could film her naked, taking pictures of their body parts and of Weinstein with the woman. The police say there was also a second victim whose photos were on his iPad They pleaded guilty. He blamed a head injury reducing his impulse control, though the judge pointed out there was nothing impulsive about this crime. He also pleaded guilty to invasion of privacy for the photos of the second woman.
