Jonathan Parker was the Idaho Republican Party chairman. In 2019, he was arrested for hiding in the bushes, in a woman’s wig, looking in the windows at his ex-wife’s apartment building while masturbating. This is after his wife had already filed a criminal complaint about him constantly hiding in the bushes and masturbating. She had a restraining order.
John McGee was an Idaho state senator who was offered a choice between facing a states ethics panel or resigning after being accused of sexual harassment. He chose to resign.
He’s kind of a “and then there is more” sort of character. He was first elected to the state senate in 2004, winning the primary and thus the election since Democrats did not run a candidate in any of the elections. But things went awry. In 2011, he went to a golf tournament where he got really drunk, stole an SUV and cargo trailer from a complete stranger and in an accident, got it stuck in someone’s yard. His blood alcohol was .15, nearly twice the legal limit of .08. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI in a deal that got the vehicle theft charges dropped. He had 180 days jail sentence, with 175 days suspended.
Rene Rodriguez had been a deputy in Blaine County before being elected Sheriff in Lincoln County Idaho as a Republican. In 2019, he was arrested and charged with one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16, four counts of lewd conduct with a minor and two counts of rape, all felonies. The victim was his adopted daughter. She told her mother in 2005/2006 when she was nine but nothing came of it. When she heard her younger sister was sleeping in his bed, she came forward in 2018 to protect her. This was disclosed to the jury and after his conviction this was the basis for his appeal, that they should not have been told. The court disagreed.
Craig Rowland, Bingham County, Idaho’s Republican sheriff, was asked by a reporter about an Idaho bill that would require local police and county sheriffs to submit DNA evidence collected from rape victims within 30 days so it can be analyzed. Mark Patterson was an Idaho state representative. He ended up resigning after it was revealed that he pleaded guilty to attempted rape in 1974. He did not disclose this in his concealed carry permit application in 2007 and 2012 when he renewed. The Ada County sheriff revoked his permit and said he in ineligible for a permit. He was able to carry until he resigned because Idaho legislators exempted themselves from needing a permit.
He called everything a smear and claimed the woman lied. She claimed he raped her twice, threatening her with telling his Doberman to attack if she did not comply. He got a nice plea deal, pleading to attempted rape and got a suspended sentence and five years probation. He claimed it was supposed to be expunged.
Brandon Hixon was a state legislator in Idaho. A ten-year-old girl told people for over a year that he was a bad man, but no one paid attention. When Hixon began dating her friend’s mother, she was afraid he would do to her friend what he had done to her so she went to her school’s counselor and police officer and told them what had happened to her. He began raping her when she was about four or five and continued until 2017. He forced her compliance and silence by threatening her brother…just in case his suicide makes you feel some pity for him.
