Richard Fritz was the State’s Attorney for St. Mary’s County. Maryland for seven terms though he finally was defeated in the Republican primary last year. His defeat is a surprise given his voters have known all along that he is a convicted rapist, participating in a three-on-one gang rape of a fifteen-year-old girl. He describes it as a statutory rape when he was a teenager. He was eighteen. He said “it happens all the time…Three of us had sex with her and that should speak for itself.”
Rick Fritz became nationally known for not prosecuting a cop who shot a teenager when he was already on his knees. Another shameless and unethical thing Fritz did was collude with the Sheriff to remove all the newspapers that had a story about his crime, raping that teen. There are also many allegations of financial proprieties over the years.
He was finally undone when he demoted an employee in his office who reported financial irregularities such as expenses for staff to attend a conference that was cancelled by COVID. That employee ran for his job and won.
