Josiah Magnuson attacked and harassed a fellow SC state representative Nancy Mace after she testified about her experience of being raped as a teenager. She had proposed a rape and incest exception to an anti-abortion bill and Magnuson sent out materials arguing that the misdeeds of the parents should not punish the fetus.
When Mace objected, Magnuson shared a constituent letter asking if Mace had the intellectual capacity to understand Magnuson’s point. Magnuson apologized in a closed-door meeting for his breach of decorum but said it did not change his beliefs.
