Daniel Gai was an aide for Fresno Republican City Councilmember Garry Bredefeld. He resigned after pleading no contest to five felony domestic violence charges. He admitted to one count of committing corporal injury on spouse or cohabitant, three counts of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and one count of child endangerment.
He blames the incident on getting drunk but won’t take responsibility for that, saying his drink was spiked. In the end, the judge added two felonies, asserting that Gai’s claim of having no volition was not supported by evidence.
He got probation.
