Matthew Foster was the District Attorney for Washington and Hancock counties in Maine. A Republican, he was defeated in his run for a third term in October 2022 perhaps because he was caught in a life during a candidate forum. He was asked if he had been investigated by Maine’s attorney general’s office and he said no, but he was investigated in 2017 and 2018.
However, a woman who claimed he sexually abused her when she was thirteen while she and her mother lived with him while her mother was his client came forward to point out that she reported the allegations and he was investigated. He said he passed two lie detector tests, which as you know, is so persuasive with district attorneys in other cases. The investigators told the woman they believed her and reporters discovered she has told several people since 2017 with a consistent description of what happened.
She still wants her day in court. So does Jaime Bailey who alleged Foster would not prosecute the man who abused her because he wasn’t a teacher so did not fit Foster’s agenda.
