Joel Greenberg was the Seminole County Tax Collector in Florida. He was endorsed by Roger Stone and was a close confidant of Matt Gaetz. Together they were habitués of the party circuit in Florida and D.C. In 2020, Greenberg was arrested, indicted with 33 criminal counts from sex trafficking, stalking, fraud, and sex trafficking a minor. He cooperated with investigators pursuing other parties. He pleaded guilty to sex felonies, including sex trafficking a minor, in a plea deal.
He was accused of stealing $400,000 of public funds, paying personal expenses and putting friends on the payroll. He used his access to the state driver’s license system to create fake IDs to enable sex trafficking of minors. In all he was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
