New York Republican Assemblyman George Christian Ortloff was arrested in a sting operation where he thought he was meeting to have sex with 11 and 12 year-old sisters. Instead he met with an FBI agent undercover as their mother. He told the agent about prior victims going back several years, including a 12-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl.
Before his arrest, he was assistant Assembly minority leader and chair of the Clinton County Republican Committee. He was also appointed to the parole board.
The charging document also includes Ortloff’s denial that he was a pedophile. He said, “I always ask myself when I’m doing something new, is this right or wrong? Do I have a moral problem with this, and honestly I don’t have a moral problem with this.”
