Trevor Aaron Ranere was a Bannock County Sheriff’s Deputy. He is accused of sexual abusing a sixteen-year-old girl. According to the girl’s statement, she was working at an assisted living facility and called to report a prowler. Renare answered the call.
She claims he asked weird questions about boyfriend, sexual activity, and illegal activity she may have participated in. He invited her for a “ride-along” but when she got in the car, he tried to kiss her, grabbed her thigh, and took her phone, adding himself to her contacts.
He contacted her again and when she said she did not want to go with him, he threatened to tell her mother about her illegal activities. She met him and he again sexually assaulted her. Renare denies everything. While he admits meeting with her, he claims she was the pursuer and that she was trying to have sex with him, not vice versa.
He is on administrative leave and has a hearing on July 10th. /l
