Michael Sperou was the pastor at North Clackamas Bible Community. Most people would call NCBC a church but they reject that term as inadequate to the meaning of their fellowship. They proudly announce and promote the teachings of Mike Sperou and he is all over their website despite his third-time conviction for raping children.
Seven women came forward alleging they were sexually abused by Sperou, but only one victim was within the statute of limitations. She alleged he sexually abused her from when she was three until she was ten. Nonetheless, he was convicted. The conviction was thrown out because witnesses referred to the victim as “victim.” He was convicted again by an 11-1 vote but the Supreme Court rightly threw out Oregon’s 10-2 jury system. He was convicted a third time, unanimously,
The heartbreak this man caused was evidenced by one of the six women whose cases were too long ago to prosecute sitting with the other victims while her mother sat in support of Sperou. She married Sperou after her daughter disclosed the abuse. The parents of another victim also sat on Sperou’s side of the court to support him.
He was sentenced to 160 months, thirteen years.
And let’s say thank you to that woman who testified against this monster three times, still believing in justice after it betrayed her twice.
