Rebecca (Becky) Hood

Rebecca Hood was a sixteen-year member of the Gordon County, Georgia, Board of Commissioners. She was also the Chair of the Commission from 2015 to 2022, when she retired. She and her husband have been arrested and charged with cruelty to children.

In 2021, the county sheriff’s office requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate allegations of physical and sexual abuse of their adopted children. They were arrested on October 31st.

A former Gordon County commissioner and her husband were arrested Thursday on charges related to
cruelty to children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
RebeccaRebecca HoodHood, 50, and Scott HoodHood, 56, were arrested and charged by the bureau, a GBI news release said.
The Calhoun residents were released Thursday on their own recognizance by the Cherokee Judicial Circuit's
Superior Court, said Robert Paris, chief deputy sheriff for the Gordon County Sheriff's Office, in a text
message.

On Jan. 26, 2021, the county's sheriff's department requested the bureau investigate sexual and physical
abuse allegations involving the HoodHood's adopted children, the release said. At the time of the allegations,
RebeccaRebecca HoodHood was a Gordon County commissioner.
The investigation is active and ongoing, the release said.
The bureau will conduct an independent investigation, the release said, and once it is completed, the case will
be returned to Cherokee County's Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for review.
