He was arrested for stalking a minor online and in person, going so far as to break into his home to spy on his and get unlawful images of him. He would persuade the boy to engage in a sexual activity and then record it without his knowledge. This went on from 2020 to 2022.

William Ray Pruitt was the police chief of Center Hill, Florida, for about 18 months in the late 90s. It was controversial. In 2008, he ran as a Republican for the state House of Representatives. In December, 2022, he was arrested for sexually battering a 14-year-old girl and then stalking her, threatening her to prevent her from coming forward. She did not come forward for two years because she was terrified of him.
