961: William Ray Pruitt

William Ray Pruitt was the police chief of Center Hill, Florida, for about 18 months in the late 90s. It was controversial. In 2008, he ran as a Republican for the state House of Representatives. In December, 2022, he was arrested for sexually battering a 14-year-old girl and then stalking her, threatening her to prevent her from coming forward. She did not come forward for two years because she was terrified of him.

958: Bradley Wayne Dixon

Child Molestation, Sexual Assault

Bradley Wayne Dixon was the dorm director at San Marcos Baptist Academy. In 2019, he was convicted of sexually abusing students. It took the jury five hours to convict him of two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, one charge of sexual performance by a child and four counts of indecency with a child.

His lawyer, even after the conviction, said that the boys were lying to be able to sue. He was convicted in 2000 and is serving a 95 year sentence.

957: Shane Flournoy

Shane Flournoy was a dorm supervisor at the Texas School for the Deaf. He was arrested for sexually abusing a 15-year-old student. The student told police Flournoy offered him $200 to expose himself. Then, he touched the student. This came out when he confessed to his minister that he had sexually abused a boy. The minister went to the police. Flournoy also told the police he had confessed to his minister. He said he paid the boy about $1000 to keep quiet.

956: Jerry Dale Carver

Child Molestation, Sexual Assault

Jerry Dale Carver was the minister of education at an Austin, Texas, Baptist church. In 2006, he was arrested for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old child. According to the arrest affidavit, he picked up a 15-year-old boy at a bus stop, began a sexual conversation, touched the boy. When the boy tried to get out of the car, he drove to a park and sexually assaulted him.

955: Ruben A. Garcia

Ruben A. Garcia was an associate pastor at Betania Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. He was arrested in 2017 for sexually assaulting two children. He was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact. When he was arrested for one investigation, they discovered there was a warrant for his arrest for another investigation in another county into child sexual assault.

952: William C. Robinson

William C. Robinson was a pastor working for Chi Alpha Campus Ministries in Corpus Christi. A young girl reported that he had continuously sexually abused her for five years, beginning when she was nine. The police said he wanted to confess to inappropriate touching. He is out on bond and has a hearing in June, 2023.

951: Robert Shiflet

Robert Shiflet was a youth pastor in Denton, Texas, and in Little Rock, Arkansas. He took groups of kids on camping trips, crossing state lines. While camping, he isolated one of the children and sexually assaulted here. Another was assaulted on the field trip bus.

950: Conner ‘Jesse’ Penny

Conner ‘Jesse’ Penny was the youth pastor at Inspiration Church in Mesquite, Texas. Before that he worked as an aide in after-school program run by the Mesquite school district and as an aide at an elementary school. He has been accused by four children of continuous sexual abuse. They range in age from six to seventeen, though the abuse was when she was younger.

949: Gary Don Welch

Gary Don Welch was a Baptist youth pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas. In 2012, he was arrested when a sixteen-year-old girl reported that he sexually assaulted her. She had confided in her aunt that Welch had been assaulting her since she was thirteen. He stepfather said he had been suspicious because Welch texted her all the time and even went to school to eat lunch with her. He told the pastor of his suspicions but was assured that it was only that Welch was kind and loving. He pulled the family out of the church/

948: Curtis Jene Smith

Child Molestation

Curtis Jene Smith was the choir director and lead youth Bible study at Waco Baptist Church in 2005, when he molested as twelve-year-old boy. The church put him in this position even though he had a 1991 conviction for molesting two children and another conviction in 2002 for failing to register as a sex offender. As a sex offender, he was prohibited from taking a job around children, but he lied to authorities and told him he worked as a night auditor at a hotel .
