James Lankford is the U.S. Senator from Oklahoma. He is a loud voice for conservative values. Values such as believing that thirteen-year-old children are old enough to consent to sex.
Lankford worked at Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center as the director of youth programming. During his tenure, a fifteen-year-old boy and a thirteen-year-old girl had sex. Lankford was not aware of this, but he was deposed. During his deposition he was asked if a thirteen-year-old could consent and he asserted his belief they can. According to Oklahoma law, they cannot. There are provisions for kids 14-17 consenting to sex with kids in their age group, but there is no legal consent for a 13-year-old.
