She was criticized widely for a history of business scams, bankruptcy, and questionable ethics. Perhaps that is why she won Trump’s endorsement over the several other candidates in the primary.
Among the many claims about her past are allegations of domestic violence from two of her ex-husbands. Her first husband said she drove her car at him, though he is uncertain she intended to run him down or just scare him. Her second husband said she hit him in the face with an alarm clock. she She counter-claimed that he was abusive. He claimed she hit him when he intervened in her assault on her daughter.
Her daughter, when she was 17, sought a protective order against Smith, claiming she held her down by her hair and punched her in the face. There are photos that show a black eye.
