732: Ravi Zacharias

Ravi Zacharias was the head of an international ministry. Originally a supporter of Marco Rubio for President, he switched to supporting Trump. When he died, Mike Pence spoke at his funeral. Allegations of sexual misconduct were made before his death, but it really blew up when Christianity Today released a report detailing his sexual harassment of women who work at massage parlors.

Perhaps he saw them as more vulnerable than other women. He had pictures (many nude) and contact info of more than 200 massage therapists. He supported several of them with the ministry’s money. This quote from The New York Times is an example of depraved coercion. IF you tell on me, all these people will go to hell.

One massage therapist “reported details of many encounters over a period of years that she described as rape,” the report says. She said Mr. Zacharias talked with her about topics including her faith and her finances, and she came to think of him as a “father figure.” After he arranged for his ministry to provide her with financial support, however, he demanded sex, according to the report. Mr. Zacharias, it says, “warned her not ever to speak out against him or she would be responsible for the ‘millions of souls’ whose salvation would be lost if his reputation was damaged.”
