Jonathan Uzcategui is a Republican who ran for Wilmington City Council. He is a naturalized immigrant from Venezuela who presents himself as an ambassador from the party to Hispanic voters. However, his ex-wife accused him of physical and emotional abuse while they were married. Uzcategui acknowledged a “difficult marriage” but denied he was ever physical. Nonetheless she was able to get a protection order and he was arrested for violating that order.
Uzcategui was also accused by Black Lives Matter of brandishing a gun at them.
