Benjamin Rajadurai is the former Executive Director of the College Republicans National Committee and now works for Americans for Tax Reform. During his tenure at CNRC, there was a contentious election for Chair. Two women allege that Rajadurai encouraged them to make sexual “Me Too” allegations against one of the candidates to help the other.
Courtney Britt was running against Clay Smith and the CNRC leadership favored Britt. Rajadurai is alleged to have asked, separately, the two women at a conference. One woman said she was in his hotel room when he got a call from the national chair Clay Thornton who wanted Britt to win and asked her right after the call. She said no and he did not pursue it further.
The second woman thought he pitched it as a joke, but later that night he suggested she get Smith drunk and accuse him of sexual assault. The former CNRC Treasurer Ty Smith corroborates her allegation.
False allegations promote rape culture and the dangerous belief that women routinely lie about sexual assault.
