166: William C. Mach

William C. Mach was an unsuccessful Republican candidate for Coounty Attorney in Pima County, Arizona. In 1984, he ran on a campaign pledging to be tough on child molesters. He was endorsed by The League Against Molestation and the Committee for Justice in Law Enforcement and won the Republican primary before losing the General Election.

In 1993, he was convicted of molesting an eight-year-old child. The victim said he molested her while playing hide and seek with her and his daughter. She was supposed to stay the night but ran home and told her mother what happened. His conviction was vacated on appeal.
