Pennsylvania’s US Representative Don Sherwood had a consensual affair which is his and her family’s business, not mine. The woman he had an affair with filed a lawsuit against him for choking her. He settled with her.
This is one of those scandals that frustrate me. Nearly all the coverage is focused on his affair which betrayed his family but not his constituents. That he was a family-values Republican makes him a hypocrite, but I am certain every person reading this is a hypocrite in some ways. Hypocrisy is part of being human. That’s why I do not include consensual affairs. But when they extend to abuse, that’s different.
