Christian Ziegler is the Chair of the Florida Republican Party though his salary has been reduced and he has no powers since his suspension on December 18th. On January 8th, they have scheduled a meeting of the full party so they can oust him.
This is in response to a rape allegation that is well-supported by texts. Allegedly, he and his wife Bridge had consensual sexual relations with another woman. When Ziegler asked for an encounter without his wife, the woman said she was not interested. He went to her home anyway and, she claims, he raped her.
A friend called for a wellness check on the survivor who said he had been raped and couldn’t go on. The police went to her home and began investigating Ziegler.
Much has been made of the three-person sex tapes of both Zieglers with this woman and with another woman. That is hypocrisy, not a crime. His wife was forced to resign from Moms for Liberty, a book-banning hate-mongering organization. Meanwhile, he is hanging on and proclaiming his innocence. Rape is a crime. A ménage à trois is not.
Of course, Ziegler has not been found guilty of rape, but Trump has and he remains their darling.
In mid-January, the police announced they are not charging Ziegler with sexual battery or rape, but they have forwarded video voyeurism charges to the prosecutor
