Daniel Montague Acker, Jr. was a youth pastor and an elementary school teacher. In 1993, he was accused of molesting one of his fourth-grade students but the grand jury did not indict him. While the school was considering termination, he was named Creek View Elementary’s Teacher of the Year. First Baptist Church in Pelham even hosted a fundraiser for him. Meanwhile, the child was ostracized while the community rallied for Acker. Acker was so unrepentant as to put the question, “What color are Kristin’s panties?” on a test.
He continued teaching until he retired in 2009.
In 2012, a girl who had him as a 4th-grade teacher in 2009 went to the police and reported him for molesting her. When the police arrested him, he admitted his guilty and said that he molested more than twenty students during his tenure.
He was sentenced to 17 years and in a civil suit, ordered to pay $1.5 million to seven of his victims.
