Jonathan Sauers was a science teacher at Faith Academy, one of those Christian private schools that claims they teach a classical education which does not mean what most people think “a classical education” means. They are part of a “Classical Education Movement” that displaces public education of citizens with private religious instruction using the Abeka curriculum that denies science and most of history. Don’t take my word for it, read their own description of their curriculum. That is the kind of school he worked at.
In March, 2023, he was arrested and confessed to a sexual relationship with one of his students and charged with one count of a school employee sex act and one count of a school employee sexual contact with a student under 19. She is sixteen. He’s out on bail and ordered to have no contact with anyone under 18.
In a move that demonstrates the values of Faith Academy, the victim was kicked off the softball team unless she signed a “Hold Harmless Waiver” that would free the school of any liability regarding her sexual abuse. The family sued and after a bitter back and forth, she has been allowed back on the team.
