781: Patrick Trowbridge

Child Sexual Abuse Material

Patrick Trowbridge was a City Councilor in Rockwell, Texas. He had filed for re-election in 2020 and was running unopposed. But then The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to the Rockwell police that someone in Rockwell was sending multiple videos of child sex abuse material. They tracked the IP address to Trowbridge, got a search warrant and found material on his phone. He pleaded guilty to one count of possessing CSAM and was sentenced to ten years in prison and 10 supervised release.

780: Wilmer Puello-Mota

Child Sexual Abuse Material

He was extradited to Rhode Island for possession of child sexual abuse material. He refused to resign, but his seat was vacated after he was convicted of a bail violation. He attended a children’s Halloween party despite being ordered to stay away from children. He sued and was returned to office.

779: Ronnie Floyd

Organizational Cover-Up

Ronnie Floyd was the President of the Southern Baptist Conference until his resignation in late 2021. The SBC was heavily criticized for lack of transparency about sexual predator pastors. Floyd opposed releasing information about these predators. He thought transparency would lead to more criticism of the SBC and open it to lawsuits. SBC’s leaders were pressured to waive attorney-client privilege so an outside firm could investigate allegations of abuse.

John Lowe was the pastor of the New Life Christian Church in Warsaw, Indiana. In 2022, he confessed to adultery in a Sunday sermon. Organizational Cover-Up

Cordileone remains the only California bishop yet to release an internal list of priests “credibly accused” of sexually abusing children. In fact, he has refused to publish the names of identified pedophiles in the Archdiocese, instead listing priests in “good standing.” This is not twenty years ago. He is still protecting pedophile priests in 2022.

Sexual Harassment

He has been accused of sexual misconduct and his companies have been accused of fostering and environment with rampant sexual harassment by several women. In 2018, SpaceX paid $250,000 to settle a sexual misconduct claim. A flight attendant complained that he exposed himself, touched her without consent, and offered to buy a horse for a sexual act. She felt that her refusal led to a retaliatory decrease in her assignments and sued. Musk denies the incident happened in spite of the settlement.

775: Vernon Jones

Intimidation, Menacing, Rape

Running in the Republican Congressional primary in 2022, his opponents brought up allegations of rape that were made in 2005 by a woman who dropped the charge “out of fear.” According to her report to the police, he said he knew where she lived and he would find her. In an egregious act of police misconduct, the Dekalb County police chief whom Vernon Jones had appointed released her identity to the press with the incident report. She wrote a note saying she would not testify because of the harassment and the release of her name. She never recanted.

774: Sandy Smith

Child Abuse, Familial Abuse & Violence

Sandy Smith won the Republican primary for Congressional District 1 in North Carolina but lost the general election despite Trump’s support. She has a spotty history, in an interview claiming she was married three times, not the factual four. Republicans were disappointed she won the primary and McCarthy spent $600,000 trying to block her, but election denialism and MAGA extremism carried the day for her. She attended the “Stop the Steal” rally.

Child Abuse, Child Endangerment, Familial Abuse & Violence, Menacing

His wife and children allege he was abusive, that he terrorized them until they escaped in a carefully planned feat. They were certain he would kill them. He threatened to kill the family dog. He threatened to kill himself. He choked one of his daughters He certainly promised to do so often enough. Dakota Adams, his son, described it as living in a cult and writes about extremism and militias in his Substack site Deprogram.

Child Abuse

John Raymond is a member of the St. Tammany Parish Republican Committee and formerly served on the Executive Committee. He is also on the Louisiana Republican Central Committee. He ran, unsuccessfully, for Congress. He was also the first voted off the island on Survivor. He is the founding pastor of New Horizon Church which owns Bridge Radio and Lakeside Christian Academy. As a teacher and headmaster at Lakeside Christian Academy, he has more than once been charged with child abuse.
