Brad Benson was a Republican candidate for city council in Granbury, Texas. On the day before Election Day, the sheriff executed a search warrant, found child sexual exploitation material on his phone. He was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. He came in third.
Benson was a Deputy Fire Marshal, a member of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and a small businessman, according to the Hood County Republican Party. He has been suspended from the VFD.
He is also listed as the general manager and partner of Cinergy Cinemas.
The Republican Party withdrew their support after they were informed of the charges.
