She has a spotty history, in an interview claiming she was married three times, not the factual four. Republicans were disappointed she won the primary and McCarthy spent $600,000 trying to block her, but election denialism and MAGA extremism carried the day for her. She attended the “Stop the Steal” rally.

It really scares me but I feel like he has forced my hand by running for public office. Trust me when I say, this man has no business in public office. And it has nothing to do with politics — everything to do with domestic violence.

Trent Brandon Holbert was the pastor of The Ridge church in Black Mountain, NC. He began molesting a child under the age of fifteen. He tried to extort her parents by reporting them for child abuse and offering to take their daughter. He gave the parents papers that would sign their daughter over to his care. However, the child protective services found the allegations unfounded. Rather, Holbert was sexually assaulting the child.

T. Elliott Welch was a Baptist pastor in Forsyth County, North Carolina. He was a vocal opponent of efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19. In April, 2020, he asked how much a little girl was worth in the tweet below. Just one year later, in April 2021, it became evident that he didn’t think little girls were much at all when he was arrested for uploading a video of an adult man raping a child, a little girl. While out on bail, he was arrested again in June for additional charges of possessing child sexual abuse material.

Madison Cawthorn was a U.S. Congressman famous for abusing trees. He was elected to Congress in 2020 and is the youngest member of Congress. With his election, there is greater attention paid to his biography which is full of exaggerations and outright lies. He only attended Patrick Henry College before dropping out, but several women who attended college with him have brought forward allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct. Two women accuse him of forcibly kissing and touching them. His sexual misconduct was so well-known that 150 former classmates signed onto an open letter arguing his conduct was disqualifying.

Dennis Nielsen is a gun shop owner and was a Republican primary candidate for District 11 in North Carolina’s state senate. He lost the primary. His wife also sought and got a restraining order against him for domestic violence. Trigger Warning: The News & Observer story is harrowing in terms of psychological abuse.

Todd Poole was the Executive Director of the North Carolina Republican Party and later went to work for several Republican officials. In 2019, he was working for U. S. Rep. Ted Budd when he was arrested for domestic violence and charged with assault. The charge was dismissed when the woman withdrew her complaint.

Cody Henson was a Republican state representative in North Carolina, representing the Transylvania and Mills River area. His wife left him while she was pregnant with their second child, claiming he was overly controlling, frequently threatened her with violence, threw a full can of beer at her in front of their child, and threatened to kill himself, at other times he threatened to kill her.

Mark Meadows was a Republican Congressman from North Carolina before becoming Trump’s Chief of Staff. During his tenure in Congress, he was censured for his handling of sexual harassment complaints against his Chief of Staff Kenny West. He learned of his behavior in late 2014, but did not act until staff went to him in 2015. He then moved West to his district office so that he no longer supervised women in the DC office. He finally terminated him in May 2015 but paid him until August. Payments beyond his end date were not permissible.

Kenny West was the Chief of Staff for Rep. Mark Meadows of California. He had originally run against Meadows in the primary in 2012 but didn’t raise much money and lost. When Meadows won the general election, West became his Chief of Staff. He made the women who worked in Meadows office uncomfortable, staring at them, talking about their clothing and appearance, and insisting they hold his hand while he prayed for them. This created a dilemma as the person they were required to report sexual harassment allegations to was the person who sexually harassed them.
