Rodney Wren was a speechwriter for Mike Pompeo. He also was a Republican candidate for the Kansas House and for Wichita City Council. He was accused of having unlawful sexual relations over two years with a teenage student while he was a teacher at Wichita Collegiate School, a private school for students from preschool through twelfth grade.
James Clendenin was a Republican member of the Wichita City Council when he conspired with Michael O’Donnell and Michael Capps to defame Brandon Whipple in order to keep him from winning the Wichita Mayor’s race. They failed which James Clendenin has proffered as a defense in his trial, suggesting that Whipple wasn’t defamed enough to lose. Yes, Clendenin is that craven.
His entire history is full of scandal from “borrowing” a school bus and drinking while taking young people to a game and giving alcohol to minors to more serious allegations of bank fraud and wire fraud. He is on the list, though, for creating and spreading false allegations as they contribute to the rape culture lie that women frequently make false claims.
Chelsea Scarlett, who worked at the same fort as Watkins, claimed she was in a room with Watkins when he locked the door, put his hands on her, and making unwanted sexual advances. She did not make a complaint at the time because she was afraid she would lose her job.
Michael Cappa, a former Kansas state legislator, made the list twice. Child abuse and concocting false allegations of sexual harassment.
Matthew Pennell was an aide for Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp of Kansas. He was charged with child molestation and possession of child sexual exploitation materials. He was charged with 17 offenses and pled guilty to two in an agreement that resulted in two concurrent twelve-month sentences and registering as a sex offender for life with lifetime supervision. He was given credit for time served before trial, reducing his sentence even more. There is remarkably little newspaper record remaining.
Dennis L. Rader is the serial killer known as the BTK Killer. He was also a Boy Scout leader and Lutheran Church President. Mayor John Pfannenstiel of Baseshor, KS, was accused of having sex with inmates while working as a prison guard. Found guilty, he received probation. A prisoner testified on his behalf and then pleaded guilty to perjury, claiming Pfannenstiel’s lawyer promised him money for testifying on his behalf.
