Michael O’Donnell was a Republican member of the Sedgwick County Commission, a former Kansas state senator, and a former member of the Wichita City Council. He joined in a conspiracy with James Clendenin and Michael Capps to smear Wichita mayoral candidate Brandon Whipple with false sexual harassment allegations. When their conspiracy came to light, they concocted a plan to smear other Republicans and take the heat off themselves. Their plotting was recorded by the videographer they hired to make the video smear.
The video exposed his lies and after much back and forth, he resigned.
His entire history is full of scandal from “borrowing” a school bus and drinking while taking young people to a game and giving alcohol to minors to more serious allegations of bank fraud and wire fraud. He is on the list, though, for creating and spreading false allegations as they contribute to the rape culture lie that women frequently make false claims.
