1460: James Gosnell, Jr.

Child Exploitation, Child Molestation, Child Rape, Child Sexual Abuse Material

James Benjamin Gosnell, Jr. is a South Carolina Magistrate Judge, currently suspended after his arrest for possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) as well as creating CSAM. Gosnell previously drew national media attention when he presided over Charleston Church shooter Dylann Roof’s initial court appearance, after mentioning the nine people he murdered, Gosnell then claimed there were also victims on the other side. He’s been officially reprimanded in the past for showing favoritism when a fellow judge was arrested for DUI and for using a notorious racial epithet when talking to a Black defendant.

1425: Russ Casey

Coercion, Indecent Exposure, Sexual Abuse, Sexual Harassment

Russ Casey was a Justice of the Peace in Tarrant County, Texas. He was running for re-election in the Republican primary when he was discovered to have forged his petition signatures. Ironically, this came to light as his accusations of that exact same thing against his primary opponents were being investigated. He pleaded guilty to voter fraud and was sentenced to probation. This is notable in that he committed voter fraud in the same county as the Black woman Crystal Mason who got ten years.

However, he seems to have skated on the more serious allegations of indecent exposure, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse brought by his former clerk. He apologized to her and that settled it for her.

1408: Kevin Christensen

Child Exploitation, Child Sexual Abuse Material, Solicitation of a Minor

Kevin Christensen was a justice court judge in four different Utah municipalities. In 2013, he was censured for quadruple-dipping, so to speak, collecting more than what is allowed by law. He was ordered to repay his overpayment. He was arrested in March 2025 for six sex crimes involving children: two counts of attempted exploitation of a minor, two counts of enticing a minor and two counts of dealing materials harmful to a minor. He is being held without bail.

1393: Jay Quam

Abuse of Power or Authority, Sexual Harassment

Jay Quam was a Hennepin County judge appointed by Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2006. He retired in March, 2025, one month before he was reprimanded by The Minnesota Board on Judicial Standards for a pattern of sexual harassment that included an inappropriate relationship with his clerk and his staff hearing explicit sounds of sexual activity from his office.

1328: Joshua Kindred

Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct

He resigned in July, 2024, after the 9th District’s Judicial Council investigated allegations of inappropriate sexual communications with a prosecutor. Prosecutors with the US Attorney’s Office for Alaska have found more than 40 cases which may have had conflicts of interest and may qualify for retrial. He had received nude photos from a prosecutor, a former law clerk, and exchanged sexual texts with several women. He was also accused of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.

962: John Michael Mann

Child Sexual Abuse Material

John Michael Mann was the Oregon Chief Administrative Law Judge who supervised the sixty judges who would decide cases between citizens and regulatory agencies. He was charged with encouraging child sex abuse which is what Oregon charges people who receive or possess child sexual abuse material. I think that really highlights what the result of possession of CSAM ends with. No one can possess CSAM without children being abused.

He pleaded guilty just before the trial and was sentenced in May 2023 to 38 months in prison and 5 months probation.
